This README describes briefly the COSMOS-Web catalog and its contents. The catalog can be downloaded here.
The methodology to construct the catalog is summarized in the flowchart below. For more details, please refer to the catalog paper.
We provide a simple tutorial notebook here to help you get started using the catalog for your science.
Catalog Extensions
The catalog fits file has multiple extensions containing different products (e.g., photometry, photo-z, physical parameters, morphological parameters). It has the following structure

Flag Construction
Hot pixels
Hot pixels in the NIRCam images are identified if a source satisifes the condition \[R_{\rm source,[filt]} - \sigma_{R,{\rm [filt]}} \geq R_{\rm thresh[filt]},\] where \(R_{\rm source,[filt]} = F_{\rm [filt],0.1}/F_{\rm [filt],0.25}\) is the ratio of flux densities in circular apertures of radius 0.1 and 0.25 arcsec, \(\sigma_{R,{\rm [filt]}}\) is the error on \(R_{\rm source,[filt]}\), calculated using error propagation (neglecting covariance terms). The thresholds \(R_{\rm thresh}\) are \(0.75\), \(0.70\), \(0.39\), and \(0.36\) for F115W, F150W, F277W, and F444W, respectively.
Ground vs. space inconsistent 1
This flag is intended to capture objects for which the ground and spaced-based photometric measurements are inconsistent, beyond the photometric uncertainties, and the ground-based measurements shouldn’t be trusted.

where \(F\) denotes the flux in a given band, \(m\) denotes the magnitude, and \(\delta\) denotes the uncertainty on the measurement.
Ground vs. space inconsistent 2
This flag is intended to capture objects which should be detection in the ground-based data, based on their fluxes in HST+NIRCam bands, but aren’t.

Single NIRCam detection
This flag is intended to capture objects detected significantly in only one NIRCam band; these are likely imaging artifacts (e.g., snowballs, hot pixels).
Objects are flagged if \(\delta m < 0.2\) in one of the NIRCam bands, but the error in all the other NIRCam+HST+MIRI bands is larger than 0.5 mag (or not detected).
Unrealistically small radius
Objects are flagged if radius<1.3e-7
, typically corresponding to extremely faint objects or artifacts.
Small flux ratio
This flag captures objects which appear smaller than the PSF; these are likely imaging artifacts (e.g., hot pixels). Objects are flagged if their aperture flux ratio between the two smallest apertures (0.2’’ and 0.3’’ diameter) is below a given threshold in two bands:
